REDs stands for Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport.

Similar to the Female Athlete Triad, low energy availability is at the foundation of RED-S and can include menstrual irregularity and impaired bone health.
As we know, low energy, menstrual dysfunction, and impaired bone health make up the triad but there are a variety of other health consequences that come with RED-S. RED-S also examines impacts on physiological function, psychological health, and athletic performance such as increased injury risk, impaired judgment, and depression.
